    OOC: Hate Crime please read.
A few nights ago I witnessed one of the most horrific things that I have ever
    > seen. My
    > very good friend, Miranda Greer, was badly beaten because of her
    > sexuality. Her friends were kept back helpless in the heavy crowd as
    > this strong woman, who is an ex Marine, was horribly beaten with a beer
    > bottle and called dyke, faggot, and a dozen other slurs. She never
    > fought back or raised a hand against him, gave him no "reason" to hurt
    > her in any way, except that she a female dancing with his
    > ex-girlfriend.

    > The crime was not only tolerated by the club owners where it happened,
    > but the man who beat her was allowed to leave by the police, even
    > getting a pat on the back from his friends for a job well done. Please
    > understand, this club has allowed homosexual behavior between women before.
    > Earlier in the evening it was even encouraged.
But when one girl simply danced with another,
    > she was attacked and brutalized by another patron, then dragged from
    > the club and left laying in the parking lot by the club security.

    > Mouth bleeding, cheek torn open wide enough to show bone, and covered
    > in bruises and blood, she begged for help from police officers who saw
    > her as nothing more than another 'faggot'. Bouncers and security guards
    > who are hired to protect women from this sort of brutality ridiculed
    > her to her face as she waited for the ambulance, which we had to INSIST
    > upon being called. She was taken to the emergency room to get x-rays to
    > see if there are broken bones and how badly her eye is damaged. She
    > was wearing glasses, which were broken when the man started hitting
    > her, and that alone was enough to cause possible permanent damage and
    > even loss of sight.
    >
    > This can't be allowed to slip through the cracks like so
    > many other hate crimes. How many others has something like this
    > happened to and no one said anything? How many more will there be?

If you think this should not be tolerated and the people who stood by and let such a horrible thing happen should be called out for their actions, please Repost this and share with as many people as possible.

Hate Crime cannot be left to fall through the cracks.
